WASHINGTON, D.C.- Congressman Theodore C. Jameson was appointed Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council earlier this morning when, in a surprise motion, Senator and Previous Chairwoman Evelyn Breaux of Louisiana stepped down from the Chair. After being introduced by the Senator and making the appointment official, he introduced himself to the press and introduced the 2017-2018 Session Goals for the Democratic Leadership Council. After introducing himself, he read the official letter he included with the Session Goals and thanked everyone for their kindness and support. His statement is below.
“It is an honor and a privilege to serve this group, the Democratic Leadership Council, as their next Chairman for the 2017-2018 Session. For those who are unaware, my name is Theodore C. Jameson and I represent the First District of Missouri in the House of Representatives. As a new session begins, we have prepared a list of session goals for the 2017-2018 Session in the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the Regional Legislatures. As Chairman, it is my duty to present these session goals to the Public and make sure that we maintain our consistency as we achieve these goals. It will not be an easy path to achieve all these goals, but I am confident in our ability as a group that we can and will achieve these goals. Our goals over this session consist of solving the energy crisis, strengthening homeland security, ensuring workers rights, repairing the broken economy, strengthening American families, and giving students the gift of universal access to a higher education. We will not achieve these goals without the help of our friends in the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the several Regions and on behalf of the leadership of the Democratic Leadership Council, I thank everyone for their continued support. I hope this session will be a successful one and we will achieve accomplishing the goals on this list, to ensure the true American Dream in every man, woman, and child in America.”
