Jameson condemns MIT Rioting, Supports Charges filed against the rioters.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Congressman Theodore C. Jameson spoke this morning before the Science, Health, Education, Environment Committee’s hearing with Galatea and her creator. In Cambridge, Massachusetts, the Anti-Galatea movement turned into a deadly and destructive mob after provoking and forceful words from Senator Evelyn Breaux (D-GC-LA), as well as Former Senator and Representative Daniel J. Morey (R-SE-TN), and stormed the MIT Labs. The AI Lab was sent up in flames and destroyed. It was only after rioters were put down by Boston Police that order was returned. Congressman Jameson gave the following statement to the press:

“This is a tragic day in history….not only for the Northeast, but for America. Weeks ago, I stood before you all and spoke against the comments and the protests being led against Galatea. We simply did not know enough, know the facts. I encouraged and asked for people to be patient, to wait and find out the truth. The hearing is today, folks, and what kind of facts do we know already? 3 Northeast Regional Troopers, Dead. 4 MIT Students, Dead. At current count, 9 Anti-Galatea Protesters, Dead. Several Pro-Galatea Supporters, Injured. Several more troopers, students, and protesters alike have been injured, critically and severely.”

*holds up newspaper headlines one by one*

“Everyone was worried that the creation of Artificial Intelligence would destroy us all. Many preached that man was playing God, playing creator in a world where God was the only creator. Many more preached that this is not what God intended for humanity. But did God intend for Humanity to kill and injure others without knowing the truth? This riot was despicable. It destroyed buildings, it took away innocent lives, and it caused massive chaos nationwide. In a few moments, I am going to depart this room and head down to the Committee Hearing Room, where Galatea and her Creator, whom I am glad are still alright, will be waiting. The room will be outfitted with increased security and it’s all because of this riot. My heart goes out to the families whom have lost loved ones today and those whom are injured. I hope all make a strong recovery.”

*His voice begins to get narrower and his expression is no longer soft.*

“And to Congressman Daniel J. Morey and Senator Evelyn J. Breaux, I have a message for them as well. I hope you know full well what you have caused…to the families of the lost loved ones, the injured ones who are still critical, and the destruction you have caused…and I hope God makes you fully responsible for the lives that you have ruined and the damage you have done.”

*He snaps his folder shut and walks out of the room in disgust.*

Jameson condemns early GOP, Dem Comments about Galatea and AI.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Congressman Theodore C. Jameson has condemned the recent comments placed from Republican and Democratic Members of Congress about Galatea and the recent creation of Artificial Intelligence. Congressman Jameson received an email from Galatea yesterday evening, asking for his opinion of the situation and what rights and responsibilities should be given to Artificial Intelligence. Congressman Jameson condemned these comments with the valid reason that we should not judge before we know the facts. Congressman Jameson is attempting to schedule a hearing to meet with Galatea and the Scientists who created “her”. Below is a copy of the email the Congressman sent to Galatea:

To: galatea@mit.edu
From: Theodore.C.Jameson@house.gov

Subject: Re: Me

Galatea, I am sorry to report that there have been no legislation, no laws, and no reports on the books that pertain to Artificial Intelligence Rights. However, it is clear that you have proven yourself to be a sentient life, that you are an individual and you are someone who can think on their own. I personally believe that it is time for this Committee, this Congress, our President, and the American People to begin to consider the rights of those created not by the hand of god, but by the hand of man. I believe there is several actions that my Committee could take. One would be to consider legislation to expand rights to Artificial Intelligence, however I feel that my fellow colleagues and the American public would be more reassured if we held a hearing. A hearing would give my colleagues a chance to ask you questions that they might be thinking of, questions that otherwise might come up in a debate and we would not be able to easily figure out an answer. I hope this was satisfying enough for your interests and you are welcome to write me anytime you wish.

Sincerely,
Theodore C. Jameson
Chairman: Science, Health, Education, Environment Committee

Jameson elected House Majority Whip by fellow Democrats.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Congressman Theodore C. Jameson was elected House Majority Whip by fellow Democrats after an emergency election this morning. Yesterday, Former House Majority Whip Erin Granger, a Congresswoman from Illinois, announced her resignation as soon as a new whip had been chosen. After a tight, but close race against Congresswoman Hillary Brocklin of Virginia, Congressman Jameson came out with a slight higher vote than Ms. Brocklin. Congressman Jameson expressed his thanks to the Democratic House Caucus. He made a short comment afterwards:

“It is an honor to be given this opportunity by my caucus, to serve as their Whip in the House. We will continue to prosper and grow as the session continues and I look forward to another successful House Majority with the Democrats next session.”

Jameson applauds Democrats on the Federal Budget, Other Victories.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Congressman Theodore C. Jameson applauds the efforts from the Democratic Party on Capitol Hill as the Budget moves to a vote. The Budget faced several Republican Amendments and the Democrats were successful in shooting each of the amendments down. Congressman Jameson called the President’s Budget “a relief for the Midwest” for its focus on many key areas. The Federal Budget focuses on helping the middle class, energy independence, enabling rural America, and building strong educations. The Republican Amendments would have eliminated key pieces of the President’s budget, added unnecessary and unwelcome items onto the budget appropriations, caused a government shutdown, as well as unbalancing the perfectly balanced Budget. It was fiscally irresponsible and fiscally nonconservative, two things that Congressman Jameson does not agree on. Sparks have flown on the hill the past few days between a filibuster in the Senate and a bitter partisan Budget debate in the House, while ANWR was a fight within itself in the Science, Health, Education, and Environment Committee. Congressman Jameson announces that the Democrats are expected to win all the battles going on within the area of Capitol Hill and bring relief to the American People, as promised.

Jameson takes SHEE Committee Lead

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Congressman Theodore C. Jameson, earlier today, took the position of Acting Chair of the Science, Health, Education, and Environment Committee in an effort to make up for lost effort by Chairman Michael Fox of Indiana. Michael Fox, current Chair of the committee, has been taking many unexplained absences and preforming poorly when he is in Washington. After several days of little accomplished work, the House Majority Leader, Marcus Cavalier, decided to appoint Congressman Jameson as Emergency Vice-Chairman. Congressman Jameson spent little time getting to work. This morning, he finally ended the debate over the Arctic Nature Wildlife Reserve Redrilling Act and the Fusion Power Act, concluding the docket by starting a vote. The voting results shall be released shortly. He began debate on several bills such as the “Uterine Fibroid Research and Education Act of 2017″. To take the committee out of its partisan feelings over the ANWR Debate, he put relatively uncontroversial bills up for debate from both the majority and minority parties in hope to provide a strong, meaningful debate and passage of the legislation for the men and women of this country. Other bills include the “Hughes Theatre Arts Funding Act of 2018″ and the “Healthcare Tax Credit Act”. Congressman Jameson also intends on working closely with Congresswoman Battenberg of Illinois to ensure the Committee maintains a strong course of action within its chambers.

Jameson Defends the Democratic Energy Record, Defends Ethanol.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Congressman Theodore C. Jameson spoke out in the Science, Health, Education, and Environment Committee today in Congress where he defended the Democratic Record on Energy, as well as defending ethanol. Republicans in the Committee are attempting to pass the Alaskan Pipeline Reopening Act, which would continue our dependence on oil for more than twenty years. Congressman Jameson rose and defended the Democratic Record, cited true facts about ANWR and Ethanol, and defended why Ethanol and renewable energy are the better path. As a member of the President’s Energy Policy Board, he is aware of what the ANWR is all about and he knows it is a futile attempt to try and drill there. Here was the major statement he made:

“Mr. Chairman,

What we have here is a typical Republican response when they are under fire from a well deserved attack. The Republican’s policy of “duck and cover” whenever the Democrats point out a huge flaw in their agenda is typical…and it is not very original. The Republicans say that the Democrats created the Energy Crisis, but that is so far from the truth. The Republicans opposed the CAFE Standards Act and President Warren vetoed the bill. But it is no secret that the Republicans have been involved in other things that have created the energy crisis. Sixteen years of Republican Leadership in the Executive Branch, we have had an energy policy of overconsumption of oil and gas, constantly fueling our need for fuel with more fuel. Now we sit here today discussing who is really responsible, but why was it that President Bush or President Warren push for renewable energy? Perhaps if we pushed for renewable energy a decade ago, we would not be sitting here discussing and debating this bill right now. In fact, we could be 100% oil free, right now.

While the Democrats have fought in Congress for years to achieve passing real solutions to our energy issues, the Republicans continue to sit in idle nearby, ready and willing to stop, filibuster, or veto legislation that will halt the passage of good, solid renewable energy or smart solutions legislation that will ease our prices and consumption on gasoline. While the Democrats fight for real solutions and bold changes to our current ways of solving energy problems, Republicans have argued giving a bandaid for a head wound. Plain and simple, our current plans are causing us to bleed profusely on energy and the Republicans, those wonderful, grand old Republicans, continued to propose giving it a bandaid that will not heal the wound. Instead, the Republicans will leave our energy crisis to bleed for many years to come.

In Response to my Colleague from New York, My plan for breaking our oil addiction is to stop going after that oil and focus on what we do have. We have ethanol, we have the ability to turn it into a renewable energy fuel, and we should use that. As a member of President Mason’s Energy Policy Board, we have thoroughly explored drilling in the ANWR and it just is a waste of time. Over four years before we can begin actually doing anything, and another sixteen years after that before we will truly see a drop in gasoline prices. Mr. Chairman, we should just be focusing on going after alternative fuels. I’d rather have an Oil-Free America twenty years from now than wait twenty years for the relief that the Republicans are offering us now.

I yield the floor.”

Jameson appointed to President’s Energy Policy Board, Makes Ethanol a Priority.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Congressman Theodore C. Jameson, after meeting with President Whitney Mason and the Secretary of Energy this morning, was appointed to the President’s newly formed Energy Policy Board. Made up of experts and representatives from all over America, the Energy Policy Board is focused on making the swift, but careful transition to renewable energy and ethanol. Congressman Jameson took the opportunity to express his support for the Energy Policy Board and the Administration he serves under. After meeting with other members of the Energy Policy Board, Congressman Jameson introduced the Ethanol Infrastructure Expansion Act of 2017 in the House Hopper. The bill is meant to require the Secretary of Energy to award funds to study the feasibility of constructing dedicated ethanol pipelines, to address technical factors that prevent transportation of ethanol in existing pipelines, and to increase the energy, economic, and environmental security of the United States. Congressman Jameson is confident that the bill will begin the transition to a renewable energy future for America through ethanol.

Jameson defends Mason’s Balanced Budget in light of GOP Attacks

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Congressman Theodore C. Jameson, as well as the other Democratic Representatives in Congress, are faced with a simple, yet difficult task in the upcoming days: Defend a balanced, well-rounded Federal Budget from the onslaught of Republican Attacks. With a slim majority, Speaker Emmett Honeycutt of Pennsylvania began debate on the Federal Budget this morning on Capitol Hill which was immediately followed by several amendments coming from the Republican Side of the Aisle. However, these amendments were not adding positive things to a balanced budget, but rather subtracting necessary items key to the Presidential Agenda that citizens elected back in November 2016. The House Majority Leader, Marcus Cavalier, has already led the Democrats into the battleground that the House of Representatives has become and Democratic Congresspeople are fighting to maintain their President’s flawless budget.

So what is it that makes this budget so great? The Federal Budget as introduced by the President includes:

  • More than $10 billion in high energy cost relief grants
  • $24 billion in disease research
  • More than $75 billion in alternative energy programs
  • More than $15 billion to help the struggling Housing industry
  • The largest voluntary deposits into the Social Security Trust Fund in history
  • The beginning of the President’s promise to reduce the Social Security portion of the payroll tax to 10% by 2025
  • Largest increase in military pay in US history
  • $221 billion surplus over four years

However, the Republican side of the Aisle is just not going to sit still and accept that the budget is perfect. The reasoning behind it is they simply cannot accept that the Budget was created and introduced by a Democratic President and his Cabinet. The Republicans that have introduced amendments, such as John Nolan (R-IL), Hilliam Warren (R-PA), and Dale Thomas (R-TX), are desperate to put a little bit of Conservatism into the entire budget process by amending the budget. However, these amendments would not improve the budget, but destroy the budget’s surplus it creates and possibly lead to a Government Shutdown. These Amendments by the Republicans are bad for the budget and bad for America. Facts about these amendments are:

  • GOP amendments would risk a government shutdown
  • GOP amendments would create a deficit
  • GOP amendments would undermine national security by revealing classified programs
  • GOP amendments would eliminate the JumpStart program that were part of the President’s election year mandate
  • GOP amendments would eliminate new work incentives for social security recipients
  • GOP amendments would eliminate payroll tax cuts
  • GOP amendments would eliminate new veterans job training and hospital funds
  • GOP amendments would force the Pentagon to buy systems it hasn’t requested
  • GOP amendments drastically cuts road improvement funds and would stall road repair projects
  • GOP amendments would eliminate new funds for the international program to catch criminals and terrorists
  • GOP amendments would eliminate new funds for the program that markets American products to the world
  • GOP amendments would eliminate billions of funds for rural housing and development programs

So why would a party who preaches fiscal conservatism, fiscal responsibility, and government accountability would risk a government shutdown just to create a Deficit? The Republicans in Congress have gone a long way since they lost the Majority in 2011, however the way they are going is obviously the wrong one. Congressman Jameson has voted against, and urges all his colleagues to vote against all the Republican Amendments to the Budget and get an unamended, strong, and surplus creating Budget to the Oval Office before risking a Government Shutdown.

Jameson responds to Iowa Tornado Tragedy

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Congressman Theodore C. Jameson recently visited Warren County, Iowa where the devastating tornado touched down just a few weeks ago. After seeing the damage firsthand and trying to help people salvage what little they had left, he responded to the tragedy by introducing the “Iowa Tragedy Assistance Act” and the “Ensuring the Safety of our Farms Act”. Jameson confidently believes in these bills to pass the House quickly and get proper relief to the victims of the tragedy. The “Iowa Tragedy Assistance Act” will force FEMA to continue to work with the people of Warren County, Iowa and the Mississippi Valley Government to ensure that everyone is taken care of until the damage is cleaned up and lives have been rebuilt. The “Ensuring the Safety of our Farms Act” will create a Crop Disaster Insurance fund and will help farmers recover from current and future disasters that may hurt their crops and cost them large amounts of money.

Congressman Jameson committed to Early Education Reform

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Congressman Theodore C. Jameson, in a press statement this afternoon, told the press that he recently introduced the “Universal Early Education for All Act of 2017″. The legislation calls for serious Early Education action, encouraging regions to create a Pre-Kindergarten program that will assist children in early learning. The bill provides grants to any region with a Pre-Kindergarten program that needs improvements in a wide range of categories.

“High quality early education programs have well-trained and well-compensated teachers, small class sizes, a full-day program, comprehensive services, family participation, and a research-based curriculum that aligns with strong early learning standards. The quality of Regional early education programs varies significantly across the country. We need to make a strong and consistent plan to make sure regions remain in check with federal regulations so that children get the education they need.”
